Series - The Book of 1st Samuel
Our Series In The Book of 1st Samuel examines the challenge in our day to be "Spiritual Thermostats" and not "Spiritual Thermometers."
Ravi Zacharias was speaking to a group of Christian pastors and leaders a few years back and spoke the following challenge beginning with a prayer uttered by David Livingston, one of the most prominent missionaries in the 19th century,
"'Lord, send me anywhere only go with me; lay any burden on my heart only sustain me; sever any ties except the ties that bind me to your service and to your heart.' (David Livingston) And through it all the words of God will come to you and me, 'Lo, I am with you always until the end of the age.' (Jesus, Matthew 28) And may I remind you it is probably going to be the kind of commitment that reaches this generation because you cannot set a tepid Christianity beside a scorching paganism." ~Ravi Zacharias
The following video presentation narrarated by Ravi Zacharias is a moving summary on the life and ministry of David Livingston.
More details on this weekend's message will be posted by Thursday evening, September 25th.
Our text for this weekend is 1 Samuel 2:1-11 and strikes at the very heart of what it means to possess spiritual vitality as defined by God's word. There are loads of so-called "spiritual gurus" in our day and their wares are peddled in every bookstore in North America. The problem with many of these "spiritual" systems is that they contradict one another and oftentimes leave people who investigate them in a greater state of confusion than when they first began their journey for truth.
Come hear what God's word has to say about truth and spirituality as we examine a 3000-year old prayer that is as much alive today as when it was first uttered in 1100 B.C. by a devout woman from the Ancient Near East.
