Little Harbor- Harbor Church's Children's Ministries

Our church welcomes children as a vital part of our community. We are committed to serving our youngest members by providing a safe and loving environment for them to experience the love and grace of Jesus. To adapt a familiar saying, we believe "it takes a church to raise a Christian."

At Harbor Presbyterian Church we take seriously our partnership with parents to nurture a child's spiritual, physical and emotional growth. The goal of our Children's Ministry is to come alongside parents in nurturing their children in their relationship with God through age-appropriate activities. We know that from birth, the love and care our children receive will have a profound impact on their relationship and understanding of our loving God. On Sundays, your child will stay with you during the beginning of the worship service (The nursery will be available during the whole service), and children will be dismissed during the announcements to their Sunday School classrooms. We ask one parent/guardian to walk each child to class and sign him or her in.

Our Vision

-To welcome and love all children that come through our doors.

-To teach children that:

The Bible is God's Word & is the story of redemption through Jesus Christ.

God made them and cares for them.

We all stray from following God and need a Savior.

Jesus is God's Son who came to earth to live a perfect life for us and die for our sins, making a way for us to heaven.

We are part of God's family forever if we trust and believe in what Jesus did and is doing for us.

Our Goals

-To have this time be a very enjoyable, growing part of your child's week.

-To provide a safe, nurturing environment where your child can experience Jesus' presence and enjoy learning who Jesus is and why He matters in his or her life.

-To help your child learn to:

Pray

Love God's Word and to memorize Scripture

Praise God joyfully through music and art

Grow in grace and faith in Christ

Live life abundantly with Jesus in the center

Love others and offer forgiveness

Serve our neighbors

"Tugboats" (Infants to18 months)

We believe that babies are gifts from God and that we must treasure and care for the babies entrusted to us in our nursery. We seek to nurture and love them as Christ would through our words, actions and attitudes. Our prayer is that your child will rest in God's presence as we create a peaceful atmosphere filled with smiling faces, loving hearts and soothing praise music. We will expose your child to God's Word by reading simple Bible stories written for infants and toddlers.

Please bring...

Diaper bag, diapers, wipes

Bottle/Juice

Change of clothes (if prone to accidents)

Pacifier, blanket

"Sailboats" (Ages 2 -3)

We believe that it is the responsibility of the church to assist parents in teaching and loving children according to God's Word. We use Bible study, crafts, music, games and memory work to teach our children. We aim to teach with enthusiasm and passion for the Gospel so that your child will find joy and excitement in the Christian life, and will yearn to serve Jesus with all his or her gifts and talents.

"Motorboats" (Pre-K through 1st grade)

We believe that as our children grow so does their capacity to learn and understand God's Word. So, with the use of interactive Bible study, singing, relevant crafts and games we aim to use a variety of learning techniques to ignite the minds and hearts of our children.

"Speedboats" (2ndgrade through 5th grade)

We believe that as our children continue to mature they need a teaching method that best connects with their learning style. And, since all children are different we employ a curriculum based on Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences. This methodology employs words, numbers, pictures, music, community, private reflection and hands-on learning. Since children are created in God's image and are part of God's glorious mosaic of self-revelation we believe that this broad range of teaching methods connects with our children and enables them to draw near to the God who made and loves them.
