Our Story
Harbor Chula Vista is part of a larger network of Harbor Presbyterian Churches across the San Diego area that began in 1999. Our multi-congregational approach to church life around the city enables us to be a part of a close knit community-based church, while having access to resources of a much larger church community. From our inception, the vision of Harbor Presbyterian Church has been to ignite a church-planting movement that so fills the City of San Diego and surrounding areas with the Gospel of Jesus Christ that the people of the city are changed in every dimension-spiritually, socially and culturally.
Pastor and Church-planter Russ Kapusinski moved to East Chula Vista in the fall of 2003 and began the process of sharing the vision of Harbor Church with the community. A small but growing group of people began to meet at the Kapusinski home until it was time to begin more formal Sunday services. So on October 10, 2004 Harbor Chula Vista began public worship services at Salt Creek Elementary School. Harbor Chula Vista hired her second pastor in May 2006, Pastor Ramon Robles. Pastor Robles will begin Harbor's first Spanish-speaking congregation in 2007.
